You'd Never Guess... |
You'd never believe who I saw
today while I was walking down City Hall, it was cloudy out and although you know how much I hate weather like that Something brought a smile to my face I can't wait to tell you, just where I was at. He said he was a detective, you know, like the ones they show on TV, only this one was so different his eyes and his smile made my heart flutter, almost like the sound of a thousand feet tapping in unison to the beat of the unheard drum, I tell you, I saw him... I finally saw the man who I shall dream of all my days and maybe more than just one lonely night. He asked for my number and just maybe he'll give me a ring He told me simply to call him "Mike". He wore a beaten up old jacket of brown leather, I could tell just how much he loved to wear that old thing no matter what the weather He's a man whose old habits just might die a bit too hard, he even wore some kind of pin with an eagle, and oh, the tie he wore... it was plaid. But I don't want to dwell on the clothes that they say often makes the man, for this man I tell you needed no clothes to impress me, for all I care. He could simply stare at me with those hazel eyes of his, smile his sweet smile, and just be there, and all I'd ever see would be the world of pain hidden beneath those grays, shadowed by lashes so dark secrets so black and lonely, veiled behind sweet, langorous smiles as we stroll along cobblestones on Central Park, maybe even hire a ride on the carriage one night as the rain slowly pours down the earth to drown us Carry us to another world only we could ever be in, awaiting to engulf us. You'd never believe who I saw on the street today, right along the City Hall, amidst dress blues and legal eagles I spied the man of my dreams staring right at me, pinning me to my feet with his grey eyes before I could even run. He said he worked as a Detective for the City, wearing plaid ties and eagle pins on his lapel, he told me his name was Mike Logan. |
